| I have a son with autism and I know how to take care of a special child.

| Since 2008 I have been working in the developmental sector, I have experience supporting people with Autism, OCD tendencies, aggression towards self and others and other various intellectual disabilities. I believe in focusing on the the persons abilities to promote self confidence and being the bridge for the areas where support is needed. My person centred approach allows the person to be in the “drivers seat”of their lives that promotes self advocacy. I’m big on community engagement and fostering connections to create a sense of belonging. I am very focused on the diverse needs of the people that I support, I assist them in all areas in life including but not limited to, personal care, banking, grocery shopping, cooking,doctors appointments and community engagement. | Having two siblings with special needs, and providing respite for my own family and others for years, I have extraordinary experience with autism, brain injury, etc. This experience consists of both in-home care and outings where I aided in implementing various strategies as outlined by parents and occupational therapists to develop the individuals' social and life skills.

| I have a family member with a developmental delay so through that, I was able to help in his skill development as well as interact with special needs individuals for over 20 years. I went to school for psychology with a developmental focus and did a post-graduate certificate in autism and behavioural science. Lastly, I have worked in behaviour intervention for over three years now and have worked in one-to-one, group settings and have had the opportunity to work with parents in clinical and home-based settings

| When I was working in a Montessori School I took care a child with Autism and I am very patient.

| I am an 18 year old student who just finished my first year of university at Dalhousie.I am a graduate from Lawrence Park Collegiate Institute. I am majoring in Psychology and am very interested in child development. I am an extremely positive, energetic, outgoing and sympathetic person who loves to work with children! For the past two years I have spent my summers working at day camps as a camp counsellor. I loved being a camp counsellor it was a great experience that provided me with an abundance of new skills. I was a sunshine counsellor for two weeks, which is a counsellor who works with special needs children. I was a one on one counsellor for a six year old girl with Autism I provided her with any extra support she needed but most importantly I made sure she had an amazing camp experience! I have done lots of volunteer work for various organizations such as Bridges to Community, Variety Village and Companies Committed to Kids. I love animals, music, food and sports. I am extremely hard working resilient and am always ready and happy to take on any task that comes my way!

| I have extensive experience working with autism and adults with an intellectual disabilities. I am available only weekends as I work full-time as a residential counsellor.

| I have a younger cousin with Autism who is 7 years old now. I have been helping to take care of her since she was born. I have seen the different challenges that she has faced along with her mother. This is one reason I am so passionate about working with children just like her. I enjoy advocating for them and helping them get through these challenges. I understand that their needs are different which makes it that much more rewarding. I have also attended both day camp and overnight camp with an autistic boy.

| I have been working with kids with special needs for 4 years now, in different settings from day programs to group homes. I currently work in a group home and care for individuals with autism. I love being able to spend time with such unique and genuine kids.

| I have a sister diagnosed with Autism and I’ve been providing care and support for her for years. Current availability is Monday and Friday. I have placement experience and currently working at a private centre for Autism.
