Our 21 yr old son is a gentle easy going young man who enjoys the company of others. He’s on the autism spectrum and although he is mostly nonverbal, he is aware and perceptive. He follows instructions and is able to read as well.
+2 years hands on experience with youth/adult care in-home/ community outgoings
+Be able to motivate him in a friendly positive manner to achieve more independence and confidence
+Be a friend to him and enjoy each other's company well together.
+A car is required for this position
+assistance and guidance with every day life skills
+encouraging independence with life skills
+preparing meals
+planning and going out daily in the community
+*& very importantly- a perceptive individual who can read the needs of the client (for example, based on demeanour and body language)

We are looking for respite care for our 7 year old, adopted daughter who has complex developmental and mental health challenges. She is currently diagnosed with FASD, ADHD and ODD. We are going through the process of more thorough assessment and stabilization.
We need respite from a BI 2-3 times a week, after school for a few hours, as well as respite on the weekends, gradually moving to overnights.
We would begin with care taking place in our home, however, we need her respite time to take place in the community or in your home.

We are in search of a respite worker or a BI for our sweet and energetic15 year old nonverbal son with Autism and ADHD. He enjoys swimming, biking, hiking, walking and listening to music among other things. You will be mostly working on life, social, communication and self-regulation skills.
Experience or education background in Special Education, Behaviour intervention program, ECE, Psychology, Nursing program, SLP or OT would be an exciting contribution, but not required.
A car and a valid driver’s license would be an asset and helpful for outings, but not required.

My name is Ayesha. A little story of us. My husband of 15 years (my high school sweetheart) passed away in April of last year. He left behind our two boys under the age of 8 years old. Our youngest has serve ASD and GDD (global developmental delay). He is non-verbal autistic, wears diapers, leg braces and uses a wheelchair for assistance (when needed).
I would need a lot of help with meal preparation, help with toileting, self care and overall help with just the support around the house with me and the boys. Also, would overnight be an option?
